The sound person's involvement included to spot any sound level errors in our production, provide the editor with voice​overs from the actors and find any background music that can correlate to our narrative. As the editor, I took on the role to be the sound person as the job will be much easier especially as I will be looking through the film constantly. Furthermore I had some input into the sound in my AS production so I know the websites I should visit to find any sound effects or background music I will be needing in the production.

I began to identify any films under the drama genre that could be related in anyway to our film. With the help from my team, we identified these films and observed in depth the sound they decided to use. From this I gained a full understanding of the codes and conventions needed in a drama production and I began to look for sound especially background music that can be correlated to our narrative. As Kyle finds out that Olivia leaves him, I went ahead to find a background music that can be inputted in this scene. With the help from my group, we found an emotional background music that went well with the narrative. Moreover, Non-diegetic sound was used as a voiceover was played of Olivia while the background music was playing and eventually worked exceptionally in the end.

Its important to make the film realistic as it could be and so I needed ambient sound to fulfil this requirement. Ambient sound is background sound presented in the atmosphere/location/scene. Ambient sound that I picked up through the scenes are sound effects receiving messages and sending messages through the phone, although it may be insignificant  to the audience,  in the scene it catches Olivia's attention and she eventually portrays her reaction with anger. As an establishing shot is shown I decided to add ambient sound of birds tweeting outside the house to add again realistic sound of the outside world.

A problem that I had encountered while listening to the sound was that there was a lack of reality during the voiceover of Kyle and Olivia. Kyle was speaking to Olivia on the phone for the very last time, however the voiceover sounded unnatural while he is using the phone. I then decided to use Adobe Audition to enhance the audio as if he was speaking on the phone. This situation also occurred while Olivia was speaking,instead we wanted it as a voicemail which worked perfectly.
